Unlock New Opportunities: REDI, Set, Go!
Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI)
Helping Nipissing District employers attract and retain the skilled workers they need.
The Regional Economic Development through Immigration (REDI) initiative, led by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD), helps employers address workforce needs that cannot be met through the local labour market. Through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), REDI allocates nomination spaces to selected communities with a demonstrated need for newcomer talent and the capacity to support newcomer integration.
Running until December 31, 2027, the initiative serves the Nipissing District census division, as defined by Statistics Canada. For 2026, up to 150 nomination spaces have been allocated to Nipissing District, specifically reserved for eligible applicants with qualifying job offers within the district.
Participating communities receive dedicated OINP support, including employer information sessions, while employers can access provincial business services to help them understand and use the program. The City of North Bay’s Economic Development Department serves as community lead, supporting promotion of REDI across Nipissing District.
How Does it Work?
There is no separate application process for REDI. Applicants must meet the applicable OINP requirements and use the provincial Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
For applications supported by a job offer, the employer starts the process through the OINP Employer Portal. The worker then registers an Expression of Interest. If invited, the employer and worker submit their respective applications.
If you are an employer or stakeholder in Nipissing District, contact OINP to learn more about the program or schedule an employer consultation.
